What to Expect on Sundays

  • WORSHIP

We sing a mixture of old and new songs. Hymns and worship songs. The constant is we only sing songs that are God-glorifying and Christ-exalting. Songs teach and so we sing those that declare the deep truths of the Christian faith.

  • PREACHING

God’s word is the most powerful thing in creation. Through it, God speaks to us about himself, us, and the world. His word is perfect, eternal, and transformative. Therefore, CBC preaches from Scripture, verse-by-verse, applying it to our lives and declaring the universal lordship of Jesus Christ.

  • CHILDCARE

Children are a blessing from God and CBC welcomes them into the service. Nursery is offered for children 0–3 years old. Older children are invited to join us in worship. We believe it is important to train up our children in a mature faith by watching their parents worship and hearing the word of God preached. CBC, during the Sunday School hour, offers age-based classes for everyone.

Our Liturgy

The word liturgy simply refers to the elements of our worship service and their order. Our service is comprised of four key elements:

Worship Through Song

  • After one of the elders, on behalf of Jesus himself, welcomes everyone to the worship gathering and calls on everyone to meditate in momentary silence to tune their hearts, the congregation is called to worship through singing (Col. 3:16).

Worship Through Confession

  • After a song of praise and pastoral prayer, an elder will give Christ’s call to repentance to the congregation and lead them into a time of silent confession.

  • After the confession, the church receives the assurance of pardon, a corporate reminder of the forgiveness and promise of glorious acceptance to those who confess their sins and genuinely repent (1 John 1:9).

  • Following the assurance of pardon, those who embrace Jesus Christ by faith are invited to share together in the Lord’s Supper, dramatizing our union with Christ (1 Cor. 11:17–34). If you’re not yet a Christian, simply pass the elements to the person next to you.

Worship Through the Word

  • After partaking of the symbolic, physical meal that is the Lord’s Supper, the church partakes of the spiritual meal, which is hearing the preaching of the word of God (Rom. 10:17; 2 Tim. 4:2).

Worship into All of Life

  • As his church, we are commissioned by the Holy Spirit as his witnesses and disciples to bring all of Christ into all of life (Matt. 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Col. 1:15–20).
